My pan isn’t working?

My pan isn’t working on induction—what now?

Finally, your new Safecourt pan is here! You unpack it and use it for the first time on your induction hob. But instead of the water happily starting to bubble, nothing happens. That can be a bit of a shock, but usually there’s no reason to worry. Our pans are fully induction-compatible. It’s often just a few simple points to check. We’ll explain step by step how to get the best performance from your pan on induction.

How induction works

Induction works with magnetism. So the hob doesn’t heat itself, but the base of the pan. If the hob doesn’t recognize the pan, nothing heats up. This can be related to:

- the size of the pan base

- where you place the pan

- the hob settings

Tips to make your pan work properly

1. Choose the right cooking zone
A pan that’s too small for a large cooking zone (or vice versa) sometimes isn’t recognized. Try a zone that better matches the size of the pan.

2. Position the pan correctly
Place the pan neatly in the center of the cooking zone. The base should sit flat and make good contact. Sometimes it helps to slide the pan briefly.

3. Watch the minimum diameter
Many hobs have a minimum size for the pan base. If the pan is smaller, the hob simply won’t switch on.

4. Use enough power
Not every cooking zone is equally powerful. Is it heating slowly? Put the pan on a stronger zone or use the hob’s boost function.

5. Check the settings
Functions like a child lock or special heat settings can affect how it works. If needed, check your hob’s manual.

6. Keep older hobs in mind
Older induction hobs sometimes work less well with modern or smaller pans. If possible, test the pan on a different hob to rule this out.
